Two injured in Galleria-area blaze

Posted: 12-15-10Category:

It's been busy for Houston Firefighters these past few days. This morning they were out battling a blaze a Galleria area townhouse.  Here's the report from Mike Glenn of the Houston Chronicle:

Two people, including a firefighter, were injured Tuesday night when fire damaged a Galleria-area townhouse.

The fire broke out at about 9 p.m. at the Post Oak Park Town Homes, on Post Oak Park near San Felipe. A resident was taken to a hospital with burns and smoke inhalation, authorities said. That person's condition is unknown.

A firefighter was also taken to a hospital. He received stitches to his cut hand, officials said, and released.

The fire was brought under control in about an hour. At one point, ammunition from a box of shells ignited, officials said. No one was injured by the ammo.

The fire reached three alarms, meaning dozens of firefighters responded. Officials were concerned about the possibility of the fire spreading, but were able to confine it to a three-story unit.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
