Deadly mobile home fireA fire in Montgomery County brought tragedy to a Conroe area family when it took the life of a two year old child this morning. A 2-year-old boy died in a Friday morning mobile home fire in Montgomery County, authorities said. The blaze was reported about 10 a.m., in the 17000 block of Red Leaf Lane, southeast of Conroe. A 50-year-old man, who was caring for the boy, was injured and transported to a local hospital, said Montgomery County Fire Marshal Jimmy Williams. The man told authorities he woke up and discovered flames on the mobile home’s front porch. He said he tried to extinguish the fire but it quickly spread into the house. The smoke and flames kept him from being able to reach the boy, Williams said. The mobile home, which the boy’s family leased, was gutted. The boy’s parents were at work and his four siblings were in school when the fire happened, Williams said. The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
